We went for a "Fall" trip through Yellowstone park.
We went through the Lamar Valley and onto Cooke City because we had never been that direction.
The aspen trees and surrounding ground foliage had changed to the perfect yellows and reds.
Cooke City was smaller than we thought, but we found the city school (which has 4 kids) and played on the playground and had dinner in town.
We headed back to the North entrance and spotted some mountain goats way up on a mountain, no duh. Sophie is getting better at using the binoculars and we could see them very clear with the spotting scope.
At Mammoth Hotsprings area, we saw this guy hanging out. He was the only one in this area. Last year when we came through there were lots more.
But on our way down the hill from Mammoth, we spotted a small group of elk.
Chris climbed up and caught him mid-bugle. Awesome picture honey!
And some more lady elk down the road. This was a drive by shot.

Beautiful! And you missed the snow! Good timing! That was an awesome shot Chris got of the elk! I LOVE Sophie's skirt! Did you let her paint the fabric!?! Such a great idea!
